Effective March 28, 2025, Argentina will implement new procedures for products requiring technical regulation compliance. Customs will waive documentary or physical controls for these products. Instead, the Argentine certificate holder (the local company) must sign an “Affidavit of Conformity.” This affidavit ensures that the products being introduced to the national market comply with all applicable technical regulations and are based on a valid certificate.
A new Argentine QR code must be affixed to the product or its packaging (an example is referenced below). Scope of Impact: This new regulation and the QR code requirement only affect mandatory AR certificates (where the importer is the certificate holder). Voluntary AR certificates (where the overseas manufacturer is the certificate holder) are not affected by this change. The certification process for voluntary certificates remains unchanged.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Is there a mandatory implementation date and a transition period? A: All products imported into Argentina on or after March 28, 2025, are required to follow this new regulation.
- Does the outer carton also need to be marked? If a power supply is not shipped separately (i.e., it is inside the end-product), does the outer carton of the end-product also need the mark? A: Yes. Even though the power supply is not shipped separately, the QR code must still be marked on the outer carton of the end-product.
